Track Athlete of the Week
Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Senior, Keene State
College
Adams easily coasted to the 3,000 meters title this past weekend at
the George Davis Invitational, covering the course in a time of
10.09.05. The Saratoga Springs, N.Y. product was never challenged
in the event, defeating her closest competitor by nearly 15
seconds.
Field Athlete of the Week
Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, Mass.), Junior, Keene State
College
Hirsh posted an NCAA Division III Championship provisional
qualifying mark and established a new Keene State College record
with her first place javelin toss of 132'-09" at the George Davis
invitational at UMass Lowell. The native of Holliston, Mass. also
set the UMass Lowell meet and facility record with her toss,
becoming the only student-athlete to alter the meet and facility
record books on the afternoon.
Rookie Athlete of the Week
Amber Petrizzo (Plainville, Conn.), Freshman, Eastern
Connecticut State University
Petrizzo qualified for the New England Division III
Championships in the 200 and 400 meters at the Eastern Connecticut
State University Invitational. The Plainville, Conn. native won the
200 meters with a time of 26.46, while placing second in the 400
meters (1:01.63). She was also a member of the winning 4X100 and
4X400 relay teams.
Field Athlete of the Week
Vanessa Baird (Dover, Maine), Freshman, University of
Southern Maine
Baird finished second in a highly competitive discus field at the
George Davis Invitational this past weekend with a toss of 30.46
meters (99-11). The Dover, Maine product competed against
student-athletes from all three NCAA Divisions.
