Blamy earns ECAC New England recognition

KEENE, N.H. - Keene State College senior Crystal Balmy didn't waste any time qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Division III Track and Field Championships this season.  The Walpole, N.H. native had something to jump about after winning  the high jump event at Boston University's Terrier Invitational with a qualifying mark of 5'5.75" last Saturday. The accomplishment earned her women's Little East Conference and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) field athlete of the week honors.
   
A week earlier, Blamy set a Keene State College record with her winning mark of5.68 feet at the Tufts Invitational Track Meet.
   
A top national and regional high jump competitor, Blamy returned to the team after missing last season with an injury.  She earned All-America honors with her fourth place finish in the high jump at the 2006 indoor nationals and also qualified for outdoor national meet. Blamy also received All-New England and All-LEC honors and was the N.E. Division III indoor and outdoor champion in the event.
   
Blamy, a sociology major, came to Keene State after competing at Wheaton College where earned All-America honors as a freshman.
