New England Track: Kelleher and Miller shine
BOSTON - Kevin Kelleher (Rocky Hill,
Conn.) and Sarah Miller (Walpole, N.H.)
are expected to earn NCAA Division III Track and Field
Championships berths following their performances at the
All-Division New England Championships held this weekend at Boston
University.
Kelleher, a junior, finished third in the mile with a time of
4:10.30. Miller, a senior clocked time of 2:14.37 with her fifth
place finish in the 800.
"Kelleher should definitely make it and Sarah should probably get
to nationals," said KSC Coach Peter Thomas.
Miller, an All-American in the 400 and member of KSC's national
champion distance medley relay team last year, moved up to the
800-meter event this year.
The Owl DMR team of Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.),
Brock Welch (Merrimack, N.H.), Pat Craven
(No. Kingstown, R.I.), and Kelleher placed fourth with a
time of 10:06.37. Stephanie Westcott (Bellows Falls,
Vt.) also scored for the KSC women with her eighth place
finish (17:43.41) in the 5,000.
The NCAA Indoor track and field championships takes place at Rose
Hulman College in Terra Haute, IND March 9-10.
