The Little East Conference office announced its annual womens tennis all-conference teams and major award winners this afternoon after a vote by the conferences eight coaches. Salem State won a pair of the major awards as senior Megan Cote was named the player of the year, while the Vikings earned the team sportsmanship award. Plymouth State freshman Sara Burke was selected as the rookie of the year, while Stacy Slater of Western Connecticut was tabbed the coach of the year by her peers.

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. LittleEast.tv will makes its first broadcast of the season, when Bridgewater State College and Western Connecticut State University square off in the championship match of the 2009 Little East Womens Tennis Championship live from Danbury, Conn. at 1 p.m. on Oct. 29. The conference champion will earn the automatic qualifier into the 2010 NCAA Division III Womens Tennis Championship. The Colonials (12-2) and Bears (12-3) meet earlier the season in Danbury, Conn. with Western Connecticut registering an 8-1 victory.

DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University women's tennis team will host Bridgewater State College in the Little East Conference Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. The Colonials advanced to the title match following their 5-2 victory over UMass Dartmouth in the semifinals at Westside Courts on Sunday afternoon. Top seeded WestConn, which improves to 12-2 on the season, will meet the third seeded Bears, which cruised to a 5-1 victory over #2 Salem State College on Sunday in the league's other semifinal match.
