UMass Boston Cruises at Lesley, 3-0, as MacAuley Sets Career Dig Mark

BOSTON, MA - Junior libero Megan MacAuley (Upland, CA) scooped
15 digs to lead the defense and give her 875 for her career and set
a new school-record as the University of Massachusetts Boston
volleyball team defeated Lesley University tonight, 25-15, 25-13,
25-13, at Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, MA.
The Beacons have won seven of their last eight matches and improve
to 14-7 on the season, while the Lynx fall to 4-8.
MacAuley registered her 869th career dig with UMass Boston owning a
12-10 lead in the second set and moved past Gina Torres (1998-2001)
for the all-time lead in career digs at the school. She also added
an ace on the night. Freshman setter Cassy Hanneman (Denver, CO)
led the offense and established a season-high with 34 assists in a
three-set match, including 15 in the first set, while firing an ace
and coming up with four digs. Junior outside hitter Kate McWhorter
(Bakersfield, CA) was extremely efficient on the night, putting
down 15 kills and committing just one attack error for a .483
hitting percentage and added seven digs, while junior outside
hitter Kate White (Plymouth, MA) spiked for 12 kills on a .400
hitting mark in addition to picking up a dig. Freshman middle
hitter Brigid Wendle (Alton, IL) put down a career-high four kills
and hit a blistering .667, while senior defensive specialist
Alessandra Adamo (Glastonbury, CT) got down for a season-high nine
digs. Freshman defensive specialist Maria Della Croce (Quincy, MA)
made a solid contribution as well with a career-high five digs.
The Beacons will be in action again on Saturday, October 11 when
they host College of Saint Elizabeth at 1:00 p.m., while Lesley
travels to take on Simmons College on October 15 at 7:00 p.m.
