Keene State College claims conference championship

KEENE, N.H. 12/3/07 - Sophomore Jackie Foster
(Goffstown, N.H.) had a record-setting day winning three events to
lead the Keene State College women's swim/dive team to the 2007
Little East Conference Championships at UMass-Dartmouth's Tripp
Center Pool on Saturday. The Keene State men also had a
record-setting weekend at the ECAC Division III Meet that took
place at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
Keene State women won their fifth overall and second straight LEC
title handily with 605 points. Host UMass-Dartmouth was a distant
second with 271 points.
"I expected us to do well, but I never thought we'd swim our
fastest times of the year," said KSC Coach Jack Fabian, whose Owls
won 10 of 13 swim events.
Foster, a transfer from UConn set a KSC and pool record in the
1,650 freestyle (18:11.73) breaking the record (18:17.9) set by
Kaitlin Pryor in 2006. She also set pool marks with her victories
in the 200 free (2:00.40) and the 500 free (5:18.76.).
Sophomore Kristine Trutor (Holden, Mass.) also had a big day for
the Owls winning the 100 back (1:02.53) and 200 back (2:18.74).
Freshman Rachel Mondello (Stoneham, Mass.) was also a double winner
with victories in the 50 free (25.22) and the 100 free (55.93).
The Owls won both relays. Katie Allenson (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Kelly Widman (Middlebury, Conn.), Trutor and Mondello captured the 200 medley relay (1;54.08) and the team of Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.), Foster, Allenson, and Mondello won the 400 free relay (3:49.63).
KSC host WPI on Saturday (1 p.m.).
