DeStefano dives to ECAC weekly honor
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The top diver on the
Plymouth State University women’s swimming and diving team
was recognized Wednesday with a top regional honor by the Eastern
College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Senior Danielle DeStefano (Centerville, Mass.) was
selected the ECAC Women’s Division III Diver of the Week. It
is the second time in her career that she has received the weekly
honor from the ECAC.
A former gymnast now in her third year as a diver, DeStefano (left)
led the Panthers with victories in both diving events in a 154-135
dual meet loss to Bentley. She scored a season-best 230.50 points
to win on one-meter and a career-high 248.40 to win on three-meter.
Her score on the high board was less than a point off the school
record of 248.80 set by Becky Huntington in January of 2001.
DeStefano is unbeaten on both boards in four dual meets this
season, and she won the Little East Conference championships on
both boards last month. She placed third on one-meter and second on
three-meter at last year’s New England Championships.
PSU, 1-3 overall, is back in action this Saturday at Bridgewater
State (1:00 p.m.)
