Grant Earns ECAC Division III New England Honors

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -Keene State College senior back Jaclyn Grant (Newington, Conn.) was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Owls women's soccer team to shutout victories over Worcester State College and Rhode Island College. Less than 24 hours earlier, she was honored as the top defensive player by the Little East Conference.
Grant helped Keene State (9-2) raise its current shutout streak to 207 minutes, 18 seconds, a scoreless stretch that began against Eastern Connecticut State University three matches ago. The Owls stifling defensive attack limited the Lancers and Anchormen to a combined nine shots (six on net). Keene State held Rhode Island College to its least number of shots (2) in a match this season, including just one on net.
The Owls sits atop the Little East team standings in least goals allowed (7), goals against average (0.63), and shutouts (6). Keene State boasts a 9-0 mark when limiting the opposition to less than one goal, a feat that has produced a season-best five-game winning streak.
Keene State returns to action this evening at 7 p.m., when the Owls travel to Westfield State College (9-1-1) for a non-conference match. Keene State and Westfield State share one common opponent with each squad shutting out Framingham State College.
