NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. If the preseason coaches poll is any indication, the top three seeds in the 2009-2010 Little East Womens Basketball Tournament Championship may not be determined until the final day of competition. Keene State College, University of Southern Maine, and Eastern Connecticut State University have been projected as the top-three teams in the 2009-10 womens basketball preseason survey in the smallest margin of separation since the conference expanded to its present eight-team membership in 1997.

BOSTON- University of Massachusetts Boston Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Recreational Programs Charlie Titus announced today that the University has named Courtney Mattingly (Bainbridge, N.Y.) as its Head Women's Basketball Coach. "I am extremely excited that Courtney Mattingly has accepted our offer to join the young and talented coaching staff of UMass Boston," said Titus.

GORHAM, Maine -- The University of Southern Maine Athletic Department today announced that former women's basketball head coach Gary Fifield will return to the sidelines next season, reassuming the reins of a program he guided for 21 years before retiring from coaching last fall. Fifield returns to the program he guided to a 541-86 record over 21 seasons after interim head coach Mike McDevitt resigned to return to his alma mater, St. Joseph's College
