Lotti named ECAC New England Player of the Year

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.
- Rhode Island College senior first baseman
Christie Lotti (Waterford, Conn.) was named the
Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Division III
Softball Player of the Year and a First Team All-Star. Lotti
headlines nine Little East Conference selections, including three
first team nominees.
Eastern Connecticut State University sophomore outfielder
Ashley Sullivan (Trumbull, Conn.) and Western
Connecticut State University senior pitcher Shelby Slie
(Seymour, Conn.) join Lotti on the 11-person first
team.
Lotti has already been named a Second Team All-American, First Team
All-New England, garnered her third consecutive Little East
Conference Player of the Year award and fourth straight First Team
All-LEC selection. She played in 45 games, starting all of them,
batting .440 (66-for-150) with 56 runs scored (a new RIC record),
10 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 30 RBI and 23 stolen
bases. Lotti walked a team-leading 27 times. She owned a .587
slugging percentage, a .525 on-base percentage and a .982 fielding
percentage. She leaves Rhode Island College as the program's
all-time leader in batting (.423), at-bats (593), runs scored
(182), hits (251), doubles (43), triples (31), home runs (14), RBI
(103), total bases (398), slugging percentage (.671), walks (70),
stolen bases (61) and putouts (910). Lotti also holds
eight Anchorwomen single-season marks. She received the Helen
M. Murphy Award, signifying her as RIC's top female, senior
student-athlete.
