Male Runner of the Week

Curtis Wheeler (Derby, Vt.), Senior, University of Southern Maine

Wheeler raced to a second place finish at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational this past weekend in North Dartmouth, Mass. The Derby, Vt. product crossed the finish line in a time of 24:52, averaging 4:59 per mile. Wheeler was just one of three runners to complete the five-mile course in less than 25 minutes. Southern Maine took second place in the 31-team field with 155 total points.    

Female Runner of the Week

Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Senior, Keene State College

Adams coasted to the UMass Dartmouth Invitational championship this past weekend in North Dartmouth, Mass., covering the 5-kilometer in a winning time of 17:45. She was the lone runner in 222 person field to complete the course in less than 18 minutes, crossing the finish line 26 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Keene State place second in the 29-team field with 145 total points, defeating three other Little East Conference squads.
