Wheeler headlines 2008 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Awards

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Little East Conference recently announced its seasonal awards for the 2008 men’s outdoor track and field campaign. The University of Southern Maine captured three of the five major honors as senior Curtis Wheeler (Derby, Vt.) and freshman Mason Shepard (Portland, Maine) selected Track Athlete of the Year and Rookie Track Athlete of the Year, while Scott Hutchinson was named Coach of the Year, respectively.
James Spualding Earns All-American Honors

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- Junior James Spaulding (Lewiston, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine men’s outdoor track and field team became the third athlete in the history of the program to earn All-America honors Friday after he finished eighth in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III National Championships meet being held at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. –The NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee recently announced the participants for the 2008 NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh from May 22-24. The Little East Conference is well represented in the national field as five students reached the automatic and provisional standards for each event.
