Track Athlete of the Week

Chris Gemske (West Hartford, Conn.), Sophomore, Eastern Connecticut State University

Gemske won the 100 and 200 meters at the Coast Guard Academy Invitational this past weekend. The West Hartford, Conn. product New England Division III and ECAC Division III Championships in both the 100 and 200 meter sprints, while also qualifying for the ECAC Open Championships in the 200 meters. Gemske set a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 22.15, while crossing the finish line in the 100 meters at 11.18.

Field Athlete of the Week

Dante Lopardo (Johnston, R.I.), Junior, Rhode Island College

At the Northeastern Invitational this past weekend, Lopardo placed fifth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump. He posted a leap of 11.83 meters in the triple jump and 5.90 meters in the long jump.

Rookie Track Athlete of the Week

Ken Landry (East Hampton, Conn.), Freshman, Eastern Connecticut State University

Landry finished second out of a field of 23 competitors in the 800 meters this past weekend at the Coast Guard Academy Invitational. The East Hampton, Conn. product covered the 800-meter course in 2:02.95.

Rookie Field Athlete of the Week

Sammy Neang (Springvale, Maine), Freshman, University of Southern Maine

The first-year jumper won the triple jump event at the Northeastern University Open this past weekend with a jump of 12.66 meters.
