Athlete of the Week:
Doug Mercer (Laconia, N.H.), Junior, University of Southern
Maine
Mercer established a new school record in the 600-meter run to
highlight a second place finish by the University of Southern Maine
Huskies at the USM Coed Invitational this past weekend at the
Costello Sports Complex field house. The junior from Laconia, N.H.
clocked a winning time on 1 minute, 23.09 seconds to set the
record, beating the previous mark of 1:23.43 set two weeks ago by
classmate Jimmy Sawyer.
Field Athlete of
the Week:
Adam Haggerty (Hermon, Maine), Senior, University of
Southern Maine
In the pole vault, Haggerty led the field at the USM Coed
Invitational this past weekend, clearing 15-4. His vault was an
inch shy of the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard
of 15-5. Haggerty dominated the seven-person field as his closest
competitor cleared 12-4.

Track Athlete of the
Week:
Sarah Hale (Naples, Maine), Sophomore, University of
Southern Maine
Hale earned three top-three finishes at the USM Coed Invitational
this past weekend in Gorham, Maine, including a pair of victories.
The sophomore won the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.63 seconds,
while placing third in the 200-meter dash as she crossed the finish
line at 27.77 seconds. Hale was part of the winning 4 X 200 relay
team with a time of 1:49.00.
Field Athlete of
the Week:
Crystal Blamy (Walpole, N.H.), Senior, Keene State
College
Blamy claimed the high jump individual title for the second
straight week, clearing 5’06.00 at the Dartmouth College
Classic.
