Track Athlete of the Week

Jimmy Sawyer (Gorham, Maine), Junior, Southern Maine

Sawyer won the 600-meter race at the Reggie Polau Memorial Invitational this past weekend, setting the Southern Maine program record with a time of 1:23.43 and qualifying for the ECAC Championships in March. He broke the previous mark of 1:23.50 set by Nick Macklin in February 2005. The Huskies finished with 108.33 points on the strength of four first place finishes and 18 top-seven finishes in the meet.

Field Athlete of the Week

Gregory Dinas (Stamford, Conn.), Sophomore, Eastern Connecticut

Dinas earned a pair of victories and a second-place result at the Coast Guard Invitational this past weekend. He qualified provisionally for the NCAA Division III Championships in the high jump with a program record leap of 6-7. Dinas also won the 55-meter hurdles competition, while placing second in the triple jump.
