Salem State College has a new leader

SALEM, Mass. - The Vikings men's tennis program
has a new leader: second year head coach Turi
Lonero. Lonero is looking to achieve similar results to
what he achieved with the SSC men's soccer program when he took
over in 2005: win.
Lonero took over the men's program after the recruiting season
concluded and was unable to attract more players to the team. Prior
to the championship being discontinued after the 1989 season, the
Salem State men's tennis program dominated the Massachusetts State
College Athletic Conference during the 1970's and 1980's. The SSC
men's tennis program captured 11 championships during the 18 years
the sport existed in the MASCAC.
Senior Matthew Guzzetti returns after earning team
MVP honors for the 2005 season. Lonero's goal is to make the
Vikings highly competitive in the Little East Conference which the
men's tennis program joined three years ago.
