2 Huskies named to NSCAA All-New England teams

GORHAM, Maine -- Two members of the University of Southern Maine men's soccer team, junior forward Sinisa Bajic (Belgrade, Serbia/Portland HS) and junior midfielder Greg Cox (Brookline, Mass./Hebron Academy), have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas NCAA Division III All-New England team.
Bajic, a third team All-New England selection in 2006, was named
to the second team this season. Cox, a first-time honoree,
was named to the fourth team. This is the first time USM has
been represented on the All-New England team by two players since
1988 when Mike Coughlin and Keith
Lehigh made the team.
The two-time Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Year,
Bajic led the Huskies in scoring for the third consecutive year
with 11 goals and two assists for 24 points. He led the
Little East in overall points and goals scored despite missing five
matches during the season. He had four game-winning goals
during the season, including the one in USM's first win over Keene
State College since 1980. Twice during the regular season he
was named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week.
A two-time All-LEC selection, Cox scored six goals, including one
game winner, and dished off a team-leading five assists to
accumulate 17 points. His game-winning goal came in
sudden-death overtime against Plymouth State University, and he had
the assist on Bajic's game winner over Keene State. He was
named the conference Offensive Player of the Week for his two-goal
performance against Plymouth State.
The Huskies finished the 2007 season, which included their second
postseason tournament berth in the last four years, with a 10-9-1
overall record. The Huskies were 5-2-0 (second place) in
Little East regular season play and earned the team's first-ever
conference playoff berth.
