Zeqo named to NSCAA/adidas All-New England teams

KANSAS CITY, KS - University of Massachusetts Boston men's soccer player Romeo Zeqo (Volos, Greece/Medford (MA) HS) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas All-New England Region third team it was announced today by the NSCAA.
Zeqo repeats the feat from last season, when he was also a Third Team All-New England selection by the NSCAA. Already, this season, he became the first player in school history to be named to the Little East Conference First Team twice. He was among the LEC's top offensive players all season, ranking among the top three in points, goals, assists and game-winning scores. The midfielder ranked second with 22 points in 17 matches for an average of 1.29 per outing and in assists with a total of six. A graduate of Medford High School, Zeqo's eight goals gave him an average of 0.47 per effort to rank fourth among LEC players and his total of four game-winning tallies was the third-most in the league as well. The junior led the Beacons in points, assists and game-winning goals, while ranking second in goals scored. He put together a three-match scoring streak from September 13-18, registering 11 points during the stretch, including back-to-back matches of two goals each vs. Eastern Nazarene College on September 13 and at Rhode Island College on September 15. In all of Zeqo's outings with points, none of his efforts were less than three points.
In three years with UMass Boston, Zeqo has started all but one of 52 matches and established himself as one of the top point-scorers in school annals with 61 points on 25 goals and 11 assists. He ranks fourth on the career points and goals scored list and became the first UMB player with consecutive 20-plus points seasons since Charlie Keskinidis did it from 1987-90. Zeqo was named to the First Team All-New England Region team by D3kicks.com in 2006 and was also named the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week twice.
The Beacons finished the season with an 8-8-1 overall record, including 1-5-1 in Little East Conference play.
