WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The academic and athletic accomplishments of Eastern Connecticut State University senior long-stick midfielder Jon Snedeker (Southington) have landed him a spot on the United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) 2008 Scholar All-America Team.

Soon after the final horn sounded on May 1, 2008 -- signaling the end of a standout collegiate lacrosse career -- four-time All-Little East Conference defenseman Jon Snedeker (SOUTHINGTON) of Eastern Connecticut State University was invited to compete with an amateur US Team in the “Down Under Cup” in Melbourne on the continent of Australia.

The Little East Conference office announced its annual men’s lacrosse all-conference and end of the season awards this afternoon after a vote by the conference’s seven head coaches. Keene State College junior attack Tony Santa Fe (Derry, N.H.) was named the Offensive Player of the Year, while teammate senior goalie Matt Johnson (Derry, N.H.) was selected the Defensive Player of the Year. Eastern Connecticut freshman attack Brendan Hoppey (Shoreham, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Year, while Western Connecticut State University boss Jason Ouellet was tabbed Coach of the Year.
