Hall of Fame Coach Gordon Webb takes over Panthers program

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State
University has hired a Hall of Fame coach to take over its
men’s lacrosse program.
Gordon Webb, a 2001 inductee in the New England
Lacrosse Hall of Fame, has been named head coach of PSU’s
men’s lacrosse team. Webb takes over from Andrew
Brauch, who resigned earlier this month after five years
on the job.
A former standout player at the University of Massachusetts Amherst
under legendary coach Dick Garber, Webb has a
lifetime of experience in the lacrosse world. He coached Boston
State College and UMass Boston for 12 years from 1971-82, leading
the team to six Colonial League championships and five runner-up
finishes. He was an assistant with the Boston Blazers of the Major
Indoor Lacrosse League from 1995-97. Webb also coached Nashua
(N.H.) High School for five seasons from 1995-99, winning the 1995
Coach of the Year award and capturing the state title in 1998. This
past spring he served as head lacrosse coach at Plymouth (N.H.)
Regional High School.
“We are thrilled to welcome such an accomplished coach as
Gordon Webb to the PSU Athletic Family,” said PSU athletic
director John Clark. “He brings a wealth of
experience to our men’s lacrosse program, and we’re
confident he will do an outstanding job.”
Webb has also been involved in lacrosse administration, serving a
variety of roles for the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse
Association. He has founded and run numerous lacrosse summer
leagues and camps and was inducted into the UMass Boston Athletic
Hall of Fame in 2006.
“I am really excited to become the ninth coach in the 43-year
history of the Plymouth State men’s lacrosse program,”
said Webb. “It has a rich tradition and I’m looking
forward to continuing the success of the program. We’re in a
league that has been growing, but we have a strong foundation and
I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
