Little East To Honor Myles Brand

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Little East
Conference and its eight member and six associate member
institutions will observe a moment of silence to honor the passing
of NCAA President Myles Brand prior to all
conference athletic events from Saturday, Sept. 19 to Sunday, Sept.
20. Brand, NCAA president since January of 2003, died Wednesday at
the age of 67.
College athletics lost a true friend on Wednesday with the passing
of NCAA President Myles Brand. Dr. Brand was a champion of
student-athlete well-being and a tireless advocate for the
educational experience of intercollegiate athletics, and the values
of diversity, gender equity, service, and sportsmanship. Please
join us in a moment of silence to honor the memory and legacy of
Dr. Myles Brand.
Almost all NCAA Division I conferences are asking their member schools to observe a moment of silence before all athletics events this weekend to honor NCAA President Myles Brand. The honoring of Brand also was noted in Division III, where moments of silence planned for this weekend were announced for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Northern Athletics Conference, the Liberty League, the City University of New York Athletic Conference and the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
